The beautiful village of Easkey which is along the Atlantic coast of Ireland and on forms part of the route for "Wild Atlantic Way" (http://www.ireland.com/en-gb/wild-atlantic-way#) is recognised internationally as one of the best surfing destinations in Europe. Surfing takes place in Easkey all year round and No.7 Fairgreen offers an excellent base for groups of up to 8 to take advantage of Easkey's famous breaks. Surfing hotspots nearby also include Strandhill and Mullaghmore and the house is a perfect base to explore lesser-known surf spots all along Sligo's magnificent wild Atlantic coastline. Secure storage shed located to rear of house to store all surfboards and wetsuits etc.
The Easkey River is a picturesque spate stream of approximately 20km in length. Its principal source is Lough Easkey situated high in the Ox Mountains which straddle Counties Mayo and Sligo. It flows through mountain bog and rough pasture before entering the sea at the lovely village of Easkey. The river gets superb runs of salmon and seatrout from early June and each summer spate brings fresh run fish right up to the end of the season. Most of the water is suitable for fly fishing with a single handed rod and there are some beautiful secluded pools which can produce wonderful sport any time between June and September.
For those who love a good walk, magnificent sunsets, rock pools, interesting geology and beautiful views, the shore walk at Easkey can't be beaten. The house is a 5 minute walk from the sea. It's also a short drive to Enniscrone with its stunning 2-mile beach, famous seaweed baths, golf links and children's water park. Also, Dunmoran Strand, Strandhill and Rosses Point beaches are all a short drive away. .
