EXTERNAL Heating is provided by an oil boiler (external) with radiators in all rooms supported by solid fuel stoves in 3 rooms and a storage heater in the studio.
There are 3 sheds on the grounds with one containing chest freezers and a tumble dryer and controls for the water treatment system and an adjoining shed for cutting and storing wood. A third shed at the top of the garden is wired and is currently used for writing and relaxation.
The house is fitted with an alarm system which can be remotely controlled as can the oil boiler.
Security cameras cover the front and rear of the house and can be remotely viewed and controlled.
There is parking for at least 4 cars at the main entrance and a works entrance below the house can provide access for larger vehicles.
The house is set on 3 acres with flowers and shrubs to the front and raised vegetable beds and fruit trees and bushes to the rear. Steps lead up under a canopy of red dogwood shrubs to a double seat built into a section of the rear wall of the garden. Close to the entrance area is a small pond attracting wildlife and a walkway to fields combining elements of rewilding and recently planted trees. Large trees surround the house and all close to the house have recently undergone surgery to ensure safety of the house.
The range of trees on site include:
Beech - Ash - Chesnut - Alder - Sycamore - Hawthorn - Hazel - Willow - Cherry - Cedar - Pines - Himalayan Birch, Norwegian Maple, Swamp Cypress, and a recently planted Sequoia. Holm (evergreen) oak and a variety of other oaks have also been planted along with some Persian Ironwood. Privately owned forests nearby have recently been harvested and replanted with a mixture of oak and spruce. An area of this behind the rear garden is being left to rewild. Deer and badger are the most common visitors with an occasional red squirrel, fox and pine-marten.
