This property from the late 1880’s(approx.) to 1919 was known as Dillon’s Bridge RIC Barracks. On the night of October 31st 1919, the R.I.C Barracks was raided by the Volunteers (I.R.A.) in the search of weapons to strengthen their endeavours. Shots were fired and the police sergeant, Sgt Matthews was seriously wounded. The barracks were later burned down in April 1920 by the volunteers.
